The Vas County Government Office, as one of the largest domestic and international regional development agency in the region
Since the transformation of county governments in 2014, the Vas County Government Office primarily engages in territorial development activities, making it one of the largest regional development agency in the past years.
The county has been actively involved in international relations for decades and has become a well-known and increasingly recognized player in various European Union co-financed programs through its international projects.
Supporting these objectives, the International Department of the Office was established in 2016 with the mission of providing a professional framework for maintaining the municipality's international relations and successfully implementing the Office's international projects. The Department consists of colleagues with diverse experience and expertise, including various international and domestic, multinational, and administrative knowledge, as well as the necessary foreign language skills in their professional backgrounds.
The quality of the Department’s work is demonstrated by nearly 50 applications, jointly developed with about 200 partner organizations, submitted during the 2014-20 European Union program phase, covering 7 different EU programs. In the 2021-27 European Union period, preparation, submission and effective implementation of cross-border, interregional and transnational applications also receive significant attention.
Thanks to the successful and efficient professional work, the Office has gradually become one of the region's largest organizations with a significant project portfolio in recent years.
The implementation of international projects is characterized by diversity and appropriate professional competence in various fields. The Office, including the International Department, is guided by the public interest, focusing on project areas (supported by the European Union), such as environmental and climate protection, circular economy, water and forestry management, digitalization, sustainable tourism, intermodality, innovative urban development, career guidance, and competency development. The mission of the Department is to effectively implement the following tasks: project generation, quality implementation, establishment of an expert network matching the relevant project themes, and professional collaboration with new partner organizations.
The international activities of the Office have a dual nature: on the one hand, it maintains and develops its existing European Union and other international relations, and on the other hand, it seeks to acquire as much knowledge and best practice as possible through its continuously expanding international project activities, which can be transferred into everyday life for the whole region and thus for Vas County.
